Short Time or Long
Meditation: Acts 26
Throughout the Epistles, Paul displays inspiring patience and humility that brings a tear to my eye. It’s quite supernatural and something I wish I had.
I am not like Paul to trust God with other people's salvation. Instead of helping, I set up my own self-righteousness as the standard and dismiss something as beautiful and complex as the human soul on that basis.
I mock, question, assume, and distrust both Christians and non-Christians from the judge’s seat I’ve made for myself. Has the gospel truly reached my heart if I still revel in this? Will God not recognize me and cast me out when my time comes?
But I place my trust in the sacrifice of Christ to touch the hearts of those I have been so quick to deem helpless and unworthy. After all, God came into this world to save sinners—of which I truly am the worst.
I pray for those around me, but most importantly, for the softening of my own heart. I hope to have Paul's patience one day and I hope to trust God's plans in drawing people to his grace, short time or long.
